Frequency measures how many cycles or events happen each second. The SI unit is the hertz (Hz), defined as one cycle per second. Every larger unit is a decimal power of the hertz: 1 kHz = 10^3 Hz, 1 MHz = 10^6 Hz and 1 GHz = 10^9 Hz. Revolutions per minute (rpm) counts cycles per minute, so 1 rpm = 1/60 Hz.
