How it works
The tool counts every Monday through Friday from the start date through the end date, including both endpoints. It steps one day at a time across the inclusive range and adds 1 for any day that is not a Saturday or Sunday. For example, Monday January 5 through Friday January 9, 2026 is 5 business days; extend the end date to Monday January 12 and it becomes 6, because the weekend in between adds nothing.
Assumptions & limits
- A business day here means Monday through Friday; Saturday and Sunday are excluded.
- Public holidays are NOT removed — the count excludes weekends only. If a holiday falls in your range and your deadline should skip it, subtract those days yourself.
- Both the start and end dates are included when they fall on a weekday, so Monday through Friday of the same week is 5 business days, not 4.
- This counts the business days inside a range you enter; it does not project a date forward. To find the date that is a number of business days away, use the counting method in the FAQ.

FAQ
- What date is a number of business days from today?
- This calculator counts business days between two dates rather than projecting a date forward, but you can find it by counting: start with the next day and move forward one weekday at a time, skipping Saturday and Sunday, until you have counted the number you need — the last day you land on is the date. For example, 5 business days from a Friday is the following Friday, because the weekend in between is skipped. Remember the count excludes weekends only, not public holidays.
- How many business days from today until a given date?
- Enter today as the start date and the target as the end date. The tool counts every Monday through Friday in that inclusive range. If today is a weekday it is included in the count.
- Does the count include today and the end date?
- Yes — the range is inclusive, so a start and end date that fall on weekdays are both counted. Monday to Friday of the same week is 5 business days, not 4.
- Are public holidays taken out of the count?
- No. The tool removes Saturdays and Sundays only; it has no holiday calendar. If a public holiday falls inside your range and your deadline should skip it, subtract those days manually. Holiday rules differ by country and even by state, so a single built-in list would be wrong for many users.
- What counts as a business day?
- Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday are treated as non-working days. Some countries and industries use a different working week (for example Sunday through Thursday), but this tool uses the common Monday-through-Friday convention.
