How it works
From the diagonal and aspect ratio, width = diagonal × aspectW ÷ √(aspectW² + aspectH²) (height likewise), then converted to centimetres at 2.54 cm per inch.
Assumptions & limits
- The diagonal is entered in inches.
- Uses the entered aspect ratio (e.g. 16:9).
§
FAQ
- Does a bigger diagonal mean more area?
- Only at the same aspect ratio. A wider ratio at the same diagonal gives less height and often less area.
