How it works
Every value is converted to bytes, then divided by the target unit’s bytes-per-unit factor. This converter uses decimal prefixes: 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes and each larger unit is another factor of 1,000; 1 bit = 0.125 byte.
Assumptions & limits
- Uses decimal SI-style storage units, not binary units such as KiB or MiB.
- Uses exactly 8 bits per byte and fixed powers-of-1,000 conversion factors.

FAQ
- Is a kilobyte 1,000 or 1,024 bytes here?
- It is 1,000 bytes here. A 1,024-byte binary unit is a kibibyte (KiB), which this converter does not list.
